General Scirocco Talk • P0172 error code

Hi, looking for advice.

I have a 61 plate 2.0 TSI 97k miles

The car has been mapped for 8 years with no problem. Occasionally the car would backfire/pop in the exhaust when I slowed down after a long run on the motorway in the summer. This would happened once or twice in the summer. Pending code P0172 would come on when I scanned it. If I cleared the code, the car would run fine. Otherwise it would be sluggish.

In the last two months, this happened pretty much everyday and I took it to a VW specialist and they replaced the PCV and Mass air flow sensor and told me everything is fine. Collected the car and drove home on Friday, within 5mins the pending code came back on, car was sluggish.

Saturday took the car out, code cleared itself, drove absolutely spot on. Then last night same pending code came on again, car was sluggish today confirm code came on and light on the dash.

I have already changed the spark plugs and coil before I took the car to the vw specialist.

I read on the forum here, someone had similar issue and suggested it was the hpfp.

I just want to know if anyone has similar experience? Thanks.
